This past Friday I had the intention of doing a guided meditation with the students, but on my way to school that morning my mind was so consumed by some of the recent local and national activity in our country and I could not help but wonder what kind of effect this was having on our class as a whole.
With Hard Rock Theme Park declaring Chapter 11 after only six months of being open to the public to the gas shortage to the $700B our government is getting ready to give to bail out financial institutions, I felt this was a crucial time to get centered, get silent and begin to put all of this into perspective. My own personal philosophy leads me to process and put into perspective right away, so things don't build and overwhelm. The chant I offered to the class, to myself and to the world around us is but a tool to remind ourselves that we are not alone in our suffering, that we all long to be free and happy and deep down we are striving towards this goal together. How often we forget this simple truth and how humbling it it to remember.
Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bavantu
May all beings be happy and free and may my actions contribute to this.
Namaste,
Jessica

Hey jessica, its Kyle from Digital Communications. I really enjoyed the class even thought it was really short. It was really beautiful to hear everyone chanting at the same time. Everybody as stress in their lives and this is a great way to just put everything into perspective and calmly take a look at what is going on in our lives. Throughtout the week stress just piles up on everyone im sure, and your class really helps to release all that stress on the mat. Having a clear mind makes life a lot easier. Everything we are learning helps off the mat too. Just practicing focus and concentration like we do with our breathing helps everyday. Thank you soo much for bringing this class to our school and into our lives. Im sure I speak for everyone when I say that you are making a big difference in all of our lives.

Hey Jessica,
I totally agree with Kyle. What you are doing not only helps us as individuals but as a whole as well. This yoga puts me, and hopefully everyone else, into this really cool zen mood. It's just so great to have something to look forward when it seems the world is crashing around you. I am one with the mat! :) thank you so much for this great opportunity!

Hi Jessica! It's Eden from Theatre. Just wanted to tell you how much this chant has helped me throughout the day. It's just so beautiful and relaxing! I'm so glad that you're teaching us yoga, especially as a part of school. I've always liked it since I was little, so this has just made it better. Can't wait to see you Friday! (10/3)<3
